Giacomo Alari, Cantine Leonardo, Cantine LeonardoThursday 24th April 2008 Since their Chianti won Red Wine of the Year a few years ago, the wines of Cantine Leonardo.it/ have gone from strength to strength. Based in the town of Vinci in Tuscany, this ultra-modern co-operative produces wines of pristine purity, from growers who believe in quality rather than increasing yields. Giacomo Alari from Cantine Leonardo presented different expressions of Chianti as well as some single vineyard wines made from Merlot and Syrah; all rounded off with a glass of their divine Vin Santo. Brett Crittenden, Mitolo Winery, McLaren Vale, AustraliaThursday 20th March 2008 Described by Robert Parker as 'One of the most brilliant Australian winemaking operations to emerge over the last five years' this winery has somewhat of a cult following now. Mitolo winery was founded in 1999 by Frank Mitolo, (large scale potato farmer) and Ben Glaetzer (young hotshot winemaker) with a view to producing wines of the best possible quality, regardless of price. Winemaker dinner with Ted Seghesio, Seghesio Winery Sonoma County, USAThursday 28th February 2008
Seghesio is one of the oldest wineries in the USA and now firmly established in the premier league of Zinfandel producers. This was underlined by Seghesio being awarded Gold Medals and Trophies for their 2004 Old Vine Zinfandel in both the International Wine Challenge and Decanter Awards last year! We tasted this wine, along with some of their other Zinfandels with Martin's specially paired menu.Ted Seghesio, winemaker at Seghesio Winery in Sonoma County talked us through his wines.

Wine maker dinner with the Cesconi brothers from Trentino, ItalyTuesday 17th April 2007 The four Cesconi brothers are making some of Italy’s most exciting wines. They have 12 hectares of vineyard in and around the village of Pressano, situated at an altitude of about 300 metres.

Devaux ChampagneThursday 13 July 2006 Devaux was established in 1846 by the Devaux brothers, Jules and Auguste, with a handful of growers. Five generations later Devaux is one of the largest vineyard holders in the Côte des Bar. Jean-Noel Girard, from Devaux, guided us though tasting many of their fine wines with a menu devised by Martin.

Spanish Wine EveningTuesday 13 June 2006 Daniel Castano visited The Plough to present a tasting of wines from Bodegas Castaño. The wines were paired with a specially selected Spanish menu. Situated in Yecla, north of Murcia, in south-eastern Spain, Castaño are widely considered as the leading producers in the region. They produce many wonderful expressions of the Monastrell varietal, which is also known as Mourvedre in France. Daniel runs the winery with the help of his family. Paolo not only produces exceptional Chianti, his Chardonnay is now considered one of Italy's finest. We tasted wines from Isole e Olena with a menu devised by Martin to reflect the region's cuisine:

“La Citta dell’ Arancia”A celebration of Sicilian Blood OrangesThursday 23rd February 2006 The Slow Food-Lentini, based in Sicily sponsored this event: “The cities of the red oranges” based on this unique fruit. Filippo Volpe of Slow Food UK invited Martin Lee at The Plough to create a menu around the red blood oranges and other delicacies that Slow Food Lentini provided:

Felluga Italian Wine EveningThursday 29th September 2005 Livio Felluga estate is situated in the Fruili region of Northeast Italy and straddles the provincial borders located in both Colli Oriental and Collio.
Maurizio Felluga , a son of the owner, and Paola Antonaci tutored us through some of their exciting wines from their estate, combined with an authentic Italian dinner from Martin’s kitchen.
